Contemporary Dutch Masters
Friday, September 05, 2008 - Friday, September 19, 2008

Featuring a distinguished collection of oil paintings and bronze sculpture by Holland’s most talented living master artists, Contemporary Dutch Masters will showcase stunning representational painting techniques founded by Northern European artists nearly four centuries ago. Masterfully incorporating stylistic themes conceived by such artists as de Hooch, Rembrandt, and Vermeer during the Golden Age of Dutch Art, featured artists Simon Balyon, Hennie de Korte, Frits Goosen, Rene Jansen, Frans van der Wal, and Niek van der Plas will present their newest evocations of the Dutch countryside and the quiet radiance of its many harbors and waterways. Beloved for her talent in simultaneously capturing strength and tenderness in her works, internationally collected sculptress Marianne Houtkamp’s embrace of the human spirit is soulfully crafted into each gesture and movement of her bronze figures. This exhibit presents a fantastic opportunity for collectors to acquire masterful Northern European paintings and sculpture in the European Academic tradition.

Aleksander and Lyuba Titovets: A Russian Retrospection
Thursday, October 02, 2008 - Saturday, October 25, 2008

In October, internationally renowned oil painters Aleksander and Lyuba Titovets will present their newest exhibition at Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art, A Russian Retrospection. Premiering on Friday, October 3rd, this exciting new show presents an exquisite display of Aleksander and Lyuba’s most recent artistic achievements.

A Russian Retrospection evokes the stunning reality of a couple that gracefully joined talent and perseverance to transform each highly achieved oil painting into a stepping-stone towards success. Their sheer talent and determination comprise the unmistakable elements of a realized American Dream. Having been in this country just sixteen years, Aleksander was personally chosen this year by first lady Laura Bush to paint her portrait which will hang permanently in the Smithsonian. This artistic achievement is a true testament to the “American dream” still being alive and well.

Both Aleksander and Lyuba have firmly imbedded roots in Russia’s grand tradition of Impressionism. Both husband and wife received Masters in Fine Art degrees from the world-renowned St. Petersburg University College of Fine Arts, with Aleksander Titovets becoming the university’s youngest Assistant Professor upon graduation.

Today, the pure atmospheric beauty emanating from their canvases, in addition to the numerous highly sought-after accolades their work has received, represents their undeniable ascendance to the top tier of current American artists.

As representatives of both Aleksander and Lyuba, we are immensely proud of both of their achievements and look forward to bringing another exciting exhibit to the Charleston audience.
