Joe Mullican is a true Southern artist and a gifted painter. He enjoys the study of nature through plein air painting. He finds morning and twilight particularly intriguing and attempts to creat a feeling of calm in his paintings. He is extremely dedicated to the discipline of traditional painting methods, though he feels that the painter "has the freedom to take the landscape and create a unique vision, with the hope of raising its aesthetic." He believes his commitment to showin the order found in nature on his canvas will inspire the viewer to a higher awareness and to a similar commitment in their lives.
